The Singapore Rail Test Centre (SRTC) is a landmark project significantly enhancing Singapore's rail capabilities. Spanning 54 hectares, the SRTC is the first facility of its kind in Southeast Asia, providing a dedicated environment to test new rolling stock and rail systems for the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Network. This crucial facility eliminates the need for MRT line closures during testing phases, ensuring minimal disruption for commuters. The SRTC will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including 17km of track designed for endurance, performance, and high-speed testing. The centre will accommodate simultaneous testing of various rail systems, supported by facilities like an operations control centre, rolling stock workshop, and advanced testing equipment. In line with sustainable practices, the SRTC buildings are targeting Singapore’s Green Mark Platinum certification, incorporating energy-efficient solutions such as solar power, LED lighting, and centralised cooling. Designed to foster collaboration, the facility will bring together engineers, operators, and manufacturers to streamline innovations that will keep Singapore’s rail network efficient, reliable, and future-ready.
