Timeline
2020 - 2023

GS Enerma is at the forefront of sustainable innovation, specialising in lithium-ion battery recycling. Established in 2020, GS Enerma addresses the growing global demand for efficient, eco-friendly solutions in energy materials. The company's primary focus is on extracting valuable metals, such as lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese, from used batteries to support the circular economy and reduce reliance on raw material extraction.

A key initiative is the Enerma Battery Recycling Plant in Pohang, South Korea, capable of processing 20,000 tonnes of batteries annually. Utilising advanced technology, the plant converts end-of-life batteries into 'black powder', a critical material for manufacturing new batteries. The plant is designed to minimise environmental impact while maximising resource recovery, contributing significantly to the global push for sustainable energy solutions. GS Enerma has also partnered with POSCO Holdings to establish POSCO-GS Eco Materials, further advancing battery recycling and fostering industry collaboration. By prioritising innovation and environmental stewardship, GS Enerma plays a pivotal role in enabling a sustainable energy future.
