The Donghae Nambu Line was designed to handle increased passenger and freight traffic while alleviating road congestion in the south east region of Korea. The project included modernising the line, replacing old single-track infrastructure, and adding new stations, improving travel times and service frequencey. Trains now operate at 15 minute intervals during peak times, and the project is integrated into Busan's metro system, providing seamless transport options.
