The Doha Metro Red Line South, completed in 2019, is a key part of Qatar's modern public transport system. The Underground package involved construction of 18km of line, as well as 14.76km of tunnel, and included five new stations and four switch boxes, connecting Al Wakra to Lusail via central Doha and Hamad International Airport.

Delivered by a joint venture including GS E&C, the project has eased congestion and reduced environmental impact by cutting road traffic. Advanced tunneling techniques minimised disruptions during construction, while safety features such as emergency evacuation shafts were integrated. The Red Line is a cornerstone of Qatar’s Rail Development Program and supported the city's preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
