GS Engineering & Construction (E&C) Australia is proud to launch the Lotus Program, a groundbreaking initiative for the construction industry, designed to support employees impacted by family and domestic violence (FDV). The program provides safe, confidential and practical assistance to employees who are victim-survivors, and those seeking to change harmful behaviours.
Launching on 25 November to coincide with the United Nations-led International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Lotus Program recognises FDV is a crisis affecting millions across Australia, and the effects extend beyond the home and into the workplace.
The Lotus Program recognises the workplace may be a victim-survivor’s only safe pathway to seek genuine and practical help; while also offering a critical opportunity for employees who recognise abusive behaviour to seek support, aiming to help address family and domestic violence from a human-centred perspective.
A comprehensive approach to FDV
GS E&C Australia’s Lotus Program offers comprehensive services to help employees experiencing violence,or concerned about their own behaviour. The program provides:
– A confidential portal for accessing information and support
– Access to specialists for safety planning, surveillance concerns and escape strategies
– Support for employees seeking to change abusive behaviours
– Practical assistance including emergency leave, financial aid and help with setting up new bank accounts and phones
– Partnerships with Protective Group and Stopline to provide secure, professional support for employees navigating FDV situations.
Managing Director Dr Steve Sung-han Cho reinforces our commitment to employee safety: “At GS E&C Australia, people are at the heart of everything we do. The Lotus Program represents our promise to support those facing family and domestic violence – whether by providing safety, resources, or pathways to change.
“Just as the lotus flower rises from muddy waters, we aim to help our employees emerge from dark times stronger, building a better future together.”
